Margaret Murgatroyd

This is lovely true single fuchsia.  The flower has bright scarlet sepals with a lovely corolla, the petals of which are pastel pink veined red.   It is further complimented with vivid scarlet anthers and cream stigma.   It a compact grower, self branching and produces two flowers in each leaf axil which prolongs the flowering period.  The foliage is small with light green leaves which do not mask the flowers.      The compact growth make it more than suitable for exhibition, garden and patio containers.   Probably too upright for basket work but should make an excellent standard  It may also prove to be hardy.

This fuchsia is named after and dedicated to Margaret Murgatroyd from Crosby, Merseyside. She was a close friend and worked tirelessly for the benefit of Thornton and Crosby Gardening Club.  She was also a very accomplished gardener and loved by all who were fortunate to have her friendship.
